What is a Schengen visa?
A Schengen visa is an entry permit for eligible non-EU nationals making a short, temporary visit to the Schengen area. A short stay is generally limited to 90 days in any 180-day period, subject to the validity and entries shown on the visa.
Who can apply for a Schengen visa from the UK?
Applicants normally apply in the country where they are legally resident. A non-British national with valid UK residence may be able to apply from the UK when their passport nationality requires a visa and the relevant consulate accepts jurisdiction.
Which Schengen country should receive my application?
Apply through your only destination or the country where you will spend the most time. If stays in several countries are equal, the first Schengen country entered is generally responsible.
When can I submit a Schengen visa application?
General EU guidance says an application should be lodged no earlier than six months before travel and at least 15 days before the intended journey. Appointment waiting time is separate, so preparation should start earlier.
How long does a Schengen visa decision take?
The normal processing period is commonly stated as 15 calendar days after a valid application is lodged. It may extend to 45 days when further examination or additional documents are required.
What documents are usually required?
A typical application includes a valid passport, lawful UK-residence evidence, form, compliant photograph, travel medical insurance, itinerary, accommodation, financial evidence, purpose-of-travel documents and evidence supporting the intention to return.
Do I need to attend an appointment in person?
Applicants commonly attend in person to lodge the application and provide fingerprints and a photograph, unless an official exemption applies. Follow the latest instructions from the responsible authority.
Can I use one Schengen visa for several countries?
A valid Schengen visa can normally be used within the Schengen area, subject to its dates, entries and permitted stay. The application must still be lodged through the genuine main destination.
Can Schengen Services guarantee an appointment or approval?
No. Appointment availability is controlled by official systems, and only the relevant embassy or consulate decides whether a visa is issued. We provide independent preparation and document support.
Can you help after a Schengen visa refusal?
